Perhaps the description would be better as copper-plate "after" Andrea Palladio. Presumably the plate was prepared from a drawing by Palladio, who was not an engraver himself. During his lifetime his drawings were published as woodcuts, and it is assumed that he oversaw the work of a specialist block-cutter. It was normal for artists to pass their designs to a block-cutter for execution. --Alan (talk) 08:34, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
