Quarter Finalists[edit]

Wales were quarter finalists in 1976 Blogdroed 22:14, 1 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, but they didn't reach the final tournament, so, technically, they weren't at the European Championship.
By the way, Luxembourg reached the quarterfinals in 1964 and has nearly missed the semis. Seriously.--Vitriden 23:19, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I know that, but the image doesn't make the distinction that this is from 1980 onwards ... Blogdroed 15:21, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that's a bit confusing, but I am not familiar with making changes to images, so I am unable to help. Yet, that should be mentioned in the description at least...--Vitriden 22:25, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well don't be stupid, all you need to do is download the picture, edit it, upload it to Wikipedia (toolbox menu on your left... see it?) of course with a different name and edit the correct link in the Euro page. While you do that note that neither Yugoslavia nor Serbia have been champions so please fix this shit!
You should NOT update the maps with teams like Ireland before 1984 as the finals only included 4 teams, That means, no quarter-finals, they are part of the qualification — chandler — 22:33, 29 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Similarly, Ireland were quarter-finalists in 1964. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.210.35.24 (talk) 21:50, 14 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Russia inherited the USSR's record, and should thus be marked as having won the thing. Madcynic (talk) 13:44, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
There is inconsistency: other USSR republics are not marked as having won, but both Czech Republic and Slovakia are marked so.95.25.11.220 (talk) 21:44, 11 July 2010 (UTC)yaro.l[reply]

Russia and the USSR are split on all World Cup images therefore on the Euro maps too... If you want a policy change on this, propose it at WP:FOOTY with good claims I guess. The Final tournaments for 1960-1976 only had 4 teams, so no quarter-finals count there, as they were part of the qualification — chandler — 13:49, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

West Germany[edit]

If I understood correctly what the "historical" map represents, then maybe West Germany should appear in dark blue? They won the tournament twice before reuniting with East Germany. --85.52.162.4 (talk) 18:36, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There is a discussion going on right now over att WP:FOOTY as to split or merge historical records of old nations so it might be updated soon to either remove the historical map or change it otherwise — chandler — 18:43, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hosts[edit]

Shouldn't Austria and Switzerland get little host boxes? matt91486 (talk) 04:10, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Map does not include all UEFA member countries[edit]

Why is a map used which does not include Isreal, Zyprus, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan? They are definitely minor Football powers (never reached the finals) but they are regular UEFA members, too. Wouldn't a map like this be more appropriate?

Map colours[edit]

This is a minor thought but I think the map colours should be changed if someone made a new map. You always expect red to be at the top and blue at the bottom, not vice versa like in this picture. Also a more reddish red instead of the purplish one would be better as it clearer that this is not next to blue in the scale. It's like the colours in the rainbow: There are six colours but only five are needed, so start at one, use the other colours in order, and leave the final colour out. I guess red - orange - yellow - green - blue would be best. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.193.95.87 (talk) 07:46, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Last eight but not quarterfinalists[edit]

It would seem to offer considerable bias to those teams whose success has been more recent to credit some teams as reaching the quarter-finals, but not others who had reached the last eight. Not only are there teams who played in matches officially described as quarter finals, but not played at the venue of the finals, there are also sides who reached the finals when it was an 8 team tournament (1984-1992 editions). The designation of quarter-finalists is not inaccurate, and it is verifiable, but is it equitable? Kevin McE (talk) 16:27, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Slovakia[edit]

Judging from the above comments, this was the case in the past, but if I am not mistaken, Slovakia inherited Czechoslovakia's record, too - unlike with Yugoslavia and the USSR, where Serbia and Russia respectively are successors, here both are. So Slovakia should be "past winner", too, as awkward as that is. --Ulkomaalainen (talk) 10:45, 18 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Gotland[edit]

Why is Gotland colored gray? It is part of Sweden — Preceding unsigned comment added by LICA98 (talkcontribs) 21:55, 22 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
