Fair use rationale:

It was determined not to use images illustrating Al Feldstein's years with Mad since the Wikipedia page about Mad is sufficient in that it is crowded with eight images.

Paintings and other works of visual art. For critical commentary, including images illustrative of a particular technique or school.

Following the legal standard of "fair use," a full description of Feldstein's years as a fine artist was added to the profile. To illustrate this with a single "fair use" painting, (a) permission was requested from the artist, (b) permission was granted, (c) research involved an examination of all of Feldstein's landscape, wildlife and Western paintings to choose a single representative image, (d) image uploaded with "art" tag as requested by Wikipedia, (e) copyright notice placed on image page to protect Feldstein's artwork, (f) image was positioned adjacent to appropriate copy to amplify the "fair use."

Thus, copy and image are allied to make the "fair use" readily apparent. Pepso 01:06, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
