my communication with Chris Torres, copyright holder

greetings. when this was up for deletion, i emailed Chris Torres, the copyright holder of the animated .GIF. he said it was okay for me to post our communication, with the copyright number redacted, since it contains personal contact information. Mr. Torres has no problem with wikipedia's use of the image. even though Ianmacm has fixed the issue by providing fair use rationale, i guess it couldnt hurt to post the email, since he said it's ok:

The Nyan Cat is copyrighted by me, evidenced under registration number [REDACTED]. I'd be happy to let Wikipedia use the animated original in the Nyan Cat wiki page though. Is there anything I'd need to do or can this be permission enough?

While on the subject, if you could add in the article that www.nyancat.cat is the new official page for Nyan Cat that'd be great. Nyan.cat is indeed a plagiarized page, but I've personally worked on Nyancat.cat.

i replied asking whether it is cool to post this email, and he said yes, but to please redact the copyright number. i have also redacted my own name. -badmachine 22:59, 28 November 2011 (UTC)
