Please may it be explained to me just what on earth is going on, User:Stefan2, User:Ronhjones, User:Sfan00 IMG & User:Bigpeteb?
I had:
- asked the owner of this image for permissions;
- sent the response to WP:OTRS;
- it marked as being under Creative Commons.
Then:
- a troll replaces it with Bruce Lee;
- I'm contacted about it ceasing to be free as a result, despite it being reverted;
- I ask about the validity of such a status change & get no response.
Now:
- I return to find the file I searched for, found, asked permission for & then personally digitally enhanced before adding to WP, is "upload" by a different user?.
This is quite upsetting. Please may you kindly reinstate the original file with all the history and CC status from before User:Mochamad farhan's troll. Thank you for trying to save the original User:Bigpeteb, but there seems to have been some serious miscommunication here. ~ InferKNOX (talk) 21:11, 2 April 2014 (UTC)
- No one should re-upload a file that has been legitimately deleted (as this was on 18:34, 23 February 2014). But I will ignore that this time. I've restored the text history so that others can see what has been going on (no point restoring old images). As for permission - there is a ticket - it was never approved, a question was sent from OTRS to the original poster, but (s)he failed to reply to the e-mail. I've added a new "OTRS received" banner with the ticket number - that does not give the right to remain, it just gives you 30 days more to get the e-mails replied to - e-mails often require further information, and a lot of images get deleted because people can't be bothered to reply. If by a small chance the e-mail has been lost / never received, then I can re-send it. Ronhjones (Talk) 21:39, 2 April 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you kindly for your efforts Ronhjones . Please may you resend the email, so that I resend the permission from the owner, as I never received such a follow-up email. I only received the permission request from WP:OTRS with a write-up that was meant to be filled by the owner, which I forwarded to the owner, they responded with the edits, then I forwarded the edited version back to WP:OTRS. - On my part, sorry for any confusion I may have caused. I simply wanted to make sure the image remains. I couldn't find a way to request that it be undeleted, or to involve myself with OTRS regarding the status of the ticket, so I settled for re-uploading it.
- I work with the author of the photo, Shi Deru, and he copied me on a response he sent to OTRS about 2-3 weeks ago granting permission to use the photo. (Apparently he'd received the original request, which I think was years ago, and replied, but not in the format that OTRS requires. OTRS replied to ask him to clarify, and he never noticed that email until I asked him to look for it.)
- Please let me know if you have any problems contacting Shi Deru; I can poke him in person to make sure he sees any emails and replies to them so we can finally get this resolved. --Bigpeteb (talk) 13:22, 4 April 2014 (UTC)
