I believe this picture is actually taken facing Rathfarnham Road (formerly Terenure Road South), with the Terenure Road East to the left, Terenure Place to the right, and with the photographer's back to Terenure Road North. The building marked M. Doyle still exists with similar signage and thus gives this orientation. If the Terenure Road East was straight ahead, this building would be Vaughans Eagle House.
