Milla Nova is a Ukrainian clothing brand in bridal fashion, primarily producing wedding dresses and evening wear. Founded in 2002, the company is operating in 50 countries including US, UK, France and China.[1][2][3]

In 2002, the sisters Zoryana and Iryna Senyshyn, launched a small atelier in Lviv, Ukraine with creative director, Mira Brewusz. joined the team as creative director. Within one year, the brand had grown to 15 employees. In 2014, the Milla Nova brand and company was officially founded and a branded boutique opened in 2017.[4]

In 2019 the company featured for the first time at an international fashion event in Barcelona.[5]

In 2020 Milla Nova launched an online store and focused on Internet sales due to COVID-19 safety restrictions.[6]

In October 2022, Milla Nova with a new collection presented at New York Bridal Fashion Week[7] and has become the first Ukrainian brand participating in New York's bridal market.[8]

Social investment[edit]

As a female-led brand, with 95% of the employees being women, the work culture strives to be a safe place for mothers with children.[4]

Since the onset of COVID-19 pandemic in Ukraine the factory produced masks and protective suits for medical staff at local hospitals.[4]

In the spring month of 2022, right after the start of a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine manufacturing facilities and most of the employees relocated to Warsaw, Poland. The company focused on producing attire for the Ukrainian Army soldiers and scrubs for health and medical workers of Ukrainian hospitals.[3][9][10][11][12][13]

In collaboration with ELLE Ukraine magazine, Milla Nova promoted wedding stories of Ukrainian veterans getting married during ongoing Russo-Ukrainian War.[14][15]

Milla Nova has collaborated with French novelist Géraldine Dalban-Moreynas,[16] German fashion influencer Leonie Hanne,[17] British actress Lucy Watson,[18] and English television personality Jess Wright.[19]

Awards[edit]

The company's boutique, located at the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Lviv's Old Town, awarded and granted by mayor of Lviv as the 2nd (in 2019[20]) and the 1st (in 2020[21]) place winner of The Best Christmas and New Year Display Window. A yearly competition organized by Lviv City Council since 2007.[22]
