Damon Scott - Act Type[edit]

I have changed Damon Scott's act type from "Ventriloquist" to "Miming Puppet Act". Damon wasn't really a Ventriloquist in the sense that he never did talk through the puppet. 129.97.248.133 (talk) 11:30, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Chart Problem[edit]

Final placings[edit]

Per WP:V, the threshold for inclusion on Wikipedia is "verifiability, not truth", with reliable sources suggest that Talbot did place second in this series. If there were no final placements, we need a source verifying that claim. B/C I see multiple editors questioning whether this is the case. Thanks. --Madchester (talk) 01:13, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • There were no final placements only the Winner, watch it on Youtube if you have forgotten - the actual show (and companion show) is the ultimate source. I propose leaving the Winners name in only. How would it help giving made-up second and third positions based on press speculation and a reinterpretation of the original term "runners up" given to all the losing finalists? Technically there are more sources giving Damon as "second" or "first runner up" ((eg. [1] [2] [3])), Connie sources mostly refer to her as "runner up" and the other ones are mostly American in origin and most likely result in a miss understanding of the given term "runner up" as our first series was different to theirs. If you look back in the history of original article Britain's Got Talent and this Britain's Got Talent (series 1) it stood for ages as simply giving Paul Potts as the winner, later work added Damon in as second, only since series 3 started have some editors decided to award 2nd to Connie and the edit war started, I don't know why this has come about maybe people are miss-remembering as Connie was at the time quite memorable due to her young age and being bookies joint favourite to win and she got lions share of press stores. WP:YOUTUBE is not considered a reliable source, especially when there are no hosted videos of earlier series by SyCo, ITV or TalkbackThames.

  • youtube-it is just a quick turn of phrase, ok look through the videos and articles on the ITV website [4] etc. Will a link to the British Film Institute catalogue reference help so people can request independent evidence that the format was different in the first series that that of series 2 and 3 because you believe the internet videos could be doctored, we seem to be able to refer to books that are offline. I tried to contribute to a clarification in the article with what 2007 sources I could find {accounts from near the time are widely regarded to be more accurate), ok I need to find more sources and improvement comes with more contributors but you simply removed what I had started and revived a previous un-sourced edit that matched your view point. In the UK we commonly call anyone who isn't the winner as one of the "runners-up". Examples - Escala called "runners up" in the Telegraph Newspaper [5], seven runners up in the Daily Mail [6] The fact that Connie, Damon or for that matter anyone else has been referred to in a source as "runner up" doesn't give adequate proof they were 2nd.
Odd there being no mention on the 2007 Connie Talbot Deletion Review that she had obtained second place AFD. --Holkingers (talk) 16:12, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Changes cause problems[edit]

There has been significant changes by IP 81.129.46.55 which though has improved the tables has lost most of the text and caused problems with the references. Rather than revert out all of this could someone who is familiar with the program and these type of articles piece together something useful. If not then a revert is all that can be done. Placements[edit]

Is there a source for any of the placements (semifinals and finals)? As far as I can tell, IPs added the information, unsourced, in 2009/2010 (2-3 years after show aired). There seems to be some disagreement, as recent as this week, as to who the runner-up is. This is more fully explained old version of article. But even beyond the runner-up, I can't find sources telling placements for finals or semifinals beyond what was known from shows (see old version). Does someone have a source?
