Does this article belong here?[edit]

In view of the content disputes over this article and the lack of reliably sourced content (the milechai.org site does not appear to meet WP:RS criteria), I wonder whether this article even belongs in Wikipedia. I have not seen any indication that the topic meets the general notability guideline (see WP:N), which requires "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." I do find some relevant historical content about the West Colfax community at this webpage, but that page doesn't support the current article.

Are there offline published sources to support this article? Alternatively, could this article be repurposed to discuss the Denver Jewish Community in general?

I suggest that it's time to quit arguing about the unsourced content in this article and start working on an article whose notability and content are supported by reliable independent sources. --Orlady (talk) 00:05, 19 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Probably not. The Jewish population in West Denver is small but unique. There probably isn't a lot of "articles", which is a reason a Wikipedia article could be beneficial. Maybe someone should do some research into this matter, since I am unreliable and the other edits are inaccurate and misleading. The orthodox Jewish population of Denver is very small and mostly exists between Perry St(east) and Sheridan Blvd(west) 17th Ave(north) to about 12th Ave(south) which would be contained within the West Colfax Neighborhood and Sloans Lake neighborhoods of Denver. For some reason this article attempts to define the "west side" of Denver by neighborhood.The definition is incomplete and I don't see how this relevant to this article. Also I think this articles title is questionable, there is a orthodox Jewish community in a small part of west Denver but to give it a title such as the "Denver West Side Jewish Community" might not be Wikipedia's job. Hmm, thanks to both of you for weighing in. It appears that there are three of us who think that it might be best to get rid of this article, which is unsourced, and which both of you consider to be inaccurate. Is there an alternative name for -- and are there sources about -- the small Orthodox community that Dbkilo describes? If there are, it might be appropriate to rename the article. The article has improved. I agree with the content. The article is factual and educational. The title may be somewhat misleading,however I can't think of a better one. The explanation of the "West side" in the article helps justify the title. There is also an Eastside Jewish Community in Denver (I know little of it except that they live mostly in the Hilltop neighborhood), maybe this should be elaborated to more explain the title given. . The additions do help a lot, but unfortunately they introduce a new issue. An encyclopedia article can't be written by taking text from other sources and surrounding it with quotation marks. Indeed, quoting text in this manner can be considered plagiarism. The content needs to be written in the original words of a Wikipedia contributor. Please note: I did NOT say that I think those additions are plagiarism. If I had thought that, I would have deleted the content. I understand that some people consider that type of long quotation to be a form of plagiarism, and the intent of my statement to indicate that this perception exists.

Regardless, paragraph-length quotations of that sort are poor form. I realize you were trying to work quickly, so it is understandable that you quoted text rather than rewriting.
