Requested move[edit]

I am proposing that Leave Me Alone (disambiguation) be renamed and moved to Leave Me Alone because:

  1. Leave Me Alone is currently just a redirect page for Leave Me Alone (song), and
  2. Page titles without (disambiguation) are preferred for disambiguation pages.

--ShelfSkewed Talk 03:16, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Page titles without "(disambiguation)" are preferred when the main title isn't being used for something else. In this case, though, it appears that the plain title is being used as a primary topic redirect to the Michael Jackson song. That might be valid or might not be (for one thing, if it holds, the song should be at the plain title), but the reasoning you've presented is not enough in and of itself to warrant a change. Therefore, I oppose the move unless you wish to argue that the Michael Jackson song is not the primary use. Dekimasuよ! 07:09, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I certainly can't argue that the MJ song is not the primary use; although there may be more people looking for the Veronicas song or the Pink song in the short term, the MJ song probably is the primary use in the long term, but I have no way of knowing. On the other hand, "leave me alone" is a common phrase and might come to be associated with any number of things in the future, and it might turn out to be inconvenient having that title married to one particular ephemeral pop song. I know: Wikipedia is not a crystal ball... --ShelfSkewed Talk 15:31, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

An article has been renamed from Leave Me Alone (song) to Leave Me Alone as the result of this move request. --Stemonitis 10:30, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

– There seems to be four other songs with the exact name "Leave Me Alone", and I would not consider this page to be the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. JE98 (talk) 18:35, 23 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi JE98 -- I haven't been through a requested move before, and I'm not sure exactly what you're proposing. When I search "Leave Me Alone", the search currently takes me to the Michael Jackson song. How would that be different in the future? -- Cloud atlas (talk) 01:03, 24 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Cloud atlas: "Leave Me Alone" would be retitled as "Leave Me Alone (Michael Jackson song)", because there are other songs called "Leave Me Alone". JE98 (talk) 13:04, 24 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Per views [[1]] while this one gets the most (4,309) Leave Me Alone (Flipp Dinero song) isn't far behind and the others combined get 5,196. Crouch, Swale (talk) 21:11, 24 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose for now. The Flipp Dinero song is brand new (Sept) so page views are spiking close to the Michael Jackson song right now, but over the long term the Jackson song is still the primary topic. See last year's pageviews and this year's pageviews (notice the recent spike). If the current page views persist for the next 6 months, I would support a move, but I doubt they will. • Support, no clear primary topic. Dekimasuよ! 20:13, 1 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
