New Zealanders[edit]

Folliwng the addition of the Wellington Phoenix to the W-League, I think we need to consider whether NZ players should be included in this list going forward. My understanding is that the Phoenix can have up to 11 NZ players, while all other clubs now have a designated spot for an NZ player. If so, this means we might have 20+ NZ players this season, many of whom will not technically be "foreign" (if playing at the Nix/there is now a NZ club in the comp).

My suggestion would be to add a note indicating the NZ players are only included up to this season, similarly to List of foreign A-League players? Interested to hear other opinions. Macosal (talk) 01:11, 27 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Good point. Seems the correct way to go is to change to match the format to the A-League list. Big question is whether to do it from this season onwards or also retrospectively (as is done with players switching nationalities after not playing in the league anymore, like Iain Ramsay who was called up to the Philippines after leaving the A-League). --SuperJew (talk) 06:38, 27 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I think we have a good/accurate record up to this season already included - and NZers really were "foreign" players up to this point. I think we add something like "Players from New Zealand are included up to the end of the 2020–21 W-League, after which New-Zealand side Wellington Phoenix entered the competition."
