I'll have a read through now and will leave some initial comments after. I mainly focus on copy editing issues but I'll keep looking through the references too. Jaguar 14:30, 9 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Initial comments[edit]

Lead[edit]

  • One problem I have noticed in the lead is that it does not start of with saying what nationality he is, usually on articles like these they open with "X is a British actor and...". Is Martin Miller Austrian?
The reason is that he is Austro-Hungarian which would now be Czech but he was considered more Austrian. The country no longer exists, so it is problematic calling him Czech or Austrian. That's why. Moravian is probably a fair label which I've added♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:52, 9 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • The lead does meet the GA criteria, however I'm worried about overlinking in the second paragraph of the lead.
There's a few links, but most are linked to notable films.♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:52, 9 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Early life[edit]

Just a thought, should this section be renamed 'Personal life'? As the section admits "Little is known about his earlier life" and nearly the whole section starts talking about his mid-life; feeling Austria before WW2 and getting married in 1946!

Early life and background OK?♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:43, 9 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sure! Jaguar 15:44, 9 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Film and television career[edit]

  • "In 1960, Miller also portrayed Stravros in the episode The Lovers of the series Danger Man[29]" - ref should be moved at the end of the sentence?
  • The prose of the whole section remains good as it only describes his career and appearances in film and TV. Not much to say here.

References[edit]

  • Ref #39 [1] appears broken, but this could just be me?
  • I've checked every other reference and they all appear to be working, most citations are in place and all the references seem to be reliable. This meets the GA criteria.

On hold[edit]

This is a generally well-written article and is impressive as it is as comprehensive as it can be. The sources are also excellent, most of them (expect one I've seen) are in the correct place and they are also reliable. The only minor problems I have spotted in this article a few prose issues which I have mentioned above and some minor issues in the lead. But if they can all be addressed, this article could pass. I'll put this on hold for the standard seven days. Thank you Jaguar 15:27, 9 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the review. I had a job finding anything much written about him at all, mainly mentions in cast in films in google books. I did take out a number of mentions or films or TV appearance to try to improve the flow. Very little appears to exist about his earlier life. Luckily Tim found me some info about his stage career which I think really helps.♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:31, 9 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I understand, I'm in a similar position with another article I'm trying to promote to GA - trying to write as much as I can with nearly no information! Jaguar 15:34, 9 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

All addressed I think.♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:50, 9 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Close - promoted[edit]

Regarding to what I mentioned in the 'on hold' section, this article now meets the GA criteria. Well done on all the good work! Every issue has been attended to. Jaguar 18:43, 9 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
