Deletions from 2014--Swat Valley[edit]

All info discussing the connection between Oddiyana and the Swat Valley was removed on the grounds that there were no sources. In scholarly sources that I'm familiar, this is in fact where Oddiyana is typically located, and it's misleading to only talk about Odisha under "possible locations". I don't have time to look for sources now, but there were sources in the original edits despite the deleter's edit summaries. (As a side note, it happens very often on Wikipedia that I find whole topics mysteriously missing from an article, and then I go into the edit history and someone deleted it and no one bothered to restore). -216.207.88.10 (talk) 13:25, 30 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It's a place believed in by Himalayans, which is believed to be in India. There is no right of anyone to up and claim it's a real place in Pakistan without sourcing the claim. It shouldn't be on the page. Then, not only did you restore it after it was deleted, but you edited the person saying why they deleted it to argue that it should be restored, faking yourself as the same person. It shouldn't be restored, and the restorer will be in trouble for masking him/herself as the deleter. And, a "Swat District" not only doesn't sound like it'd be it, but sounds like a slum, the exact opposite of it. How can a grande, splendid, extravagant, wealthy city of yore located in India become a Pakistan slum? You're saying 2+2=1. --174.22.212.102 (talk) 00:17, 16 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I looked up Swat. It is in fact a third world slum. No one has any business claiming that it could be such a place. --174.22.212.102 (talk) 00:25, 16 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Surprised[edit]

I always thought Oddiyana is the Swat Valley. I am surprized to see the claim that Oddiyana is Orissa. Orissa has moved fast to reinforce the claim: https://www.thehindu.com/news/national/other-states/naveen-unveils-statue-of-guru-padmasambhava/article26208512.ece Naveen unveils statue of Guru Padmasambhava

I should mention that I have also seen the claim the Buddha Shakyamuni was born in Orissa, and not Nepal. See

I am quite sure Gautama Buddha was born in Lumbini or some place very close by.

That slum cannot possibly be a legendary city of splendor. Don't make absurd claims like that without some kind of archeological proof of an underlying splendid city remains.--174.22.212.102 (talk) 00:24, 16 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
