Your comment on the Deletion page for Garib Rath[edit]

You said "I'm not an admin, so I'm not sure if my two bits count". To answer that, yes, they do. Everyone's opinion counts on Articles for Deletion; the strength of the arguments is what matters, not who makes it.--CastAStone//₵₳$↑₳₴₮ʘ№€ 13:18, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • You do not need to be an Admin to comment on an AFD; I am not and often comment. The issue seems to be whether we should have the article Garib Rath Express or Garib Rath: there is no need to have both as they are duplicates. Do you have a view on which it should be? If so, I would suggest that you add to your previous comments on the AFD page. Peterkingiron (talk) 16:40, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

indian media[edit]

saw your post on the wikiproject india discussion board about help on this subject. Drop me a line as to what you need. Lihaas (talk) 03:16, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have replied to your question in WP:INDIA discussion board. I hope that helps -- Tinu Cherian - 09:25, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Chirag. I have started reverting your edits because the newspapers and magazines are categorised as "newspapers/magazines in India", which are a subcategory of Indian media, so they are redundant in acordance with Wikipedia policy. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 11:25, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Indian media reply[edit]

Im afraid I dont quite get your q. As far as I know you should add all categories, even if its a subcategory. But maybe i don't get the q. fully. Lihaas (talk) 01:03, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Indian Media[edit]

Yes I realised that. I was waiting for this weekend to revert them. We can divide the work so it gets done faster. Let me know, if that works with you. ChiragPatnaik (talk) 12:35, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Crap! you shouldn't have reverted... there were other changes I made there... You should have just deleted the category... ChiragPatnaik (talk) 12:53, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 03:06, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
one more thing. something similar is also the case with television channels. as in. It is an Indian television station as well as a member of Indian television. indian television stations is a member of Indian Televisions. will u be making those changes as well? ChiragPatnaik (talk) 13:01, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, television is a subset of media. I think because you have AWB, it is faster for you to order it to remove a supercat if it is already in the subcat. I don't have AWB. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 03:06, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

triservices crest[edit]

if the crest is wrong on one site it should be on the original too. Can you remove it from there as well? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CISF (im not credible on this subject, i admit i don't know, so it makes more sense if you do it, no?) Lihaas (talk) 19:46, 26 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Banglore rename[edit]

dont behave funny its genuine because I think state govt have changed its name to Bengaluru....so there should not be any hesitation to use this word...world and state people have also accepted this...i dont know why you not? Bombay->Mumbai, Madras->Chennai, Calcutta->Kolkata....have you any objection on this matters also?....still you have any doubt then i m ready to discuss this issue..Alokprasad84 (talk) 05:38, 27 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • its not a matter of anyone's personal interest to recognise any of our big city with a perticular name...most of the local or even distant resident know Varanasi as Banaras...i respect them and even i use Banaras generally, but every body (at official places) know its Varanasi...similar in case of Vadodara/Baroda...Now come to the point...yeah Banglore is popular but at one time Madras was also equally popular..if you are asking my personal opinion, yes I want that world know Bangalore as Bengaluru in future and wikipedia is a very big platform where we should aside our emotions and use things as such..wikipedia is not only limited to some section of peoples its' open for all world. if anyone want to use Banglore then he should use it in parenthesis with denotion previously known as or something like this.Alokprasad84 (talk) 11:26, 27 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your rollback request[edit]

Hello ChiragPatnaik, I've granted your request for rollback. Please remember that rollback should only be used on clear cases of vandalism, spam, or trolling. Abuse/misuse of the tool, either by reverting good-faith edits or revert-warring, will lead to the removal of the tool. If you have to revert an edit, but need to explain why you're reverting it, don't use rollback. For practice with rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback. Good luck. Acalamari 16:54, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome. Acalamari 18:51, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

hey! I want to fix this article but you don't let me do it! you called that vandalism but it isn't, the currently written in the section "2002–2003: Ahli Arab, Ana Eih, scandal and move to Rotana Records" doesn't match with the subject and it is written twice! the same in the "Early years" is in "2002–2003: Ahli Arab, Ana Eih, scandal and move to Rotana Records" I want to write right information about that section but you call it vandalism!! OOOOOOh come on! and you even want to block me :@ heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey hear me please

Please be careful not to re-introduce vandalism into articles when you are reverting edits, as you did here. Phil Bridger (talk) 12:32, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of page Podbharti[edit]

Hi, recently noticed that the page was deleted and you seconded started that. Funny to see that you opined it was not notable, especially pains when I see from your talk page that you have gone through that phase yourself. Its so strange that Wikipedia finds a porn site Savita_Bhabhi notable and worthy of listing and deletes pages like Podbharti and Indicast. Its a shame really, just thought I would tell you that I admonish this notion of Wikipedia and wonder why the admins don't even bother to notify the authors of the deleted pages even once before taking such drastic steps. Mere 2 votes from total strangers to the topic and they just delete the page. Huh! --Debashishc (talk) 09:48, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not an admin. AND, there was a message left to the initiator of the article. There was no comeback. There are several deletions proposed by me that were rejected by consensus. So it is not a unilateral decision on my part. (I can't even delete articles)
Finally, if you feel that something is inappropriate for Wikipedia. You are welcome to propose deletion of the same. Cheers ChiragPatnaik (talk) 09:53, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You are not an Admin I know Chirag, and you couldn't delete the page but you did start the whole thing right by asking for the deletion of the page. I wonder why! What makes a site notable? And no thanks, I am not on a deletion spree like you, it seems from your own admission that you are on some sort of agenda to delete content. I believe in creating stuff rather than destroying. Are you going ahead and suggesting deletion of Savita Bhabhi page then? I bet you won't ;) Pathetic! --Debashishc (talk) 10:07, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have an agenda? Where did u get that? I recommend for deletion, whatever I think is inappropriate. That other editors agree (and disagree as well) with me is something that makes this place tick. If you don't get this, perhaps you should examine your motivations to be here...
Since you raised the issue and you obviously feel strongly about Savita Bhabhi, Please go ahead and recommend deletion. I didn't create it and I don't care. Cheers ChiragPatnaik (talk) 10:13, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Patchi_photo.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Patchi_photo.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Melesse (talk) 09:29, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for offering to help. Yes, your diffs are OK. Feel free to remove the VP notice from all the pages, and not just the ones that start with S. If you use WP:AWB, it should go pretty fast. Firefox tabbing using Firefox tabbing using Linky to load the pages also works pretty darn fast (maybe even faster for this task).

There are a lot of other tasks that need to be done on these pages, so if you have more time to devote to this important project, please let me know.

Thank you again, and keep in touch.

Firefox and Linky[edit]

See Wikipedia:OTS#Tabs_and_tabbing. If you don't have Firefox yet, please download and install it. Then install the Linky add-on to Firefox. These will come in very handy for your next task...

Next task[edit]

Here's another easy one...

Some countries are landlocked. All the landlocked countries's lists (at Wikipedia:WikiProject Lists of basic topics) include the link landlocked country.

Go to the article landlocked country and click on "What links here" in the sidebar menu (Wikipedia's menu down the left side of the screen). Click on "500" and then scroll down - these lists are easy to spot on there.

Landlocked countries do not have navies (usually). So, on each of these lists, change:

**[[Navy of x]]:

To:

**[[Navy]] of x: None

(Where "x" is the name of the country).

IMPORTANT: if the Navy of x link is blue, check it to see if the country has a navy. If it does, don't change that entry for that list.

If you have any trouble or questions, please let me know.

Good luck, and have fun.  :)
