May 2024[edit]

To enforce an arbitration decision, and for WP:ECR violations, you have been blocked from editing Wikipedia for a period of 1 week Wikipedia. You are welcome to edit once the block expires; however, please note that the repetition of similar behavior may result in a longer block or other sanctions.

If you believe this block is unjustified, please read the guide to appealing blocks (specifically this section) before appealing. Place the following on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Please copy my appeal to the [[WP:AE|arbitration enforcement noticeboard]] or [[WP:AN|administrators' noticeboard]]. Your reason here OR place the reason below this template. ~~~~}}. If you intend to appeal on the arbitration enforcement noticeboard, I suggest you use the arbitration enforcement appeals template on your talk page so it can be copied over easily. You may also appeal directly to me (by email), before or instead of appealing on your talk page.

Reminder to administrators: In May 2014, ArbCom adopted the following procedure instructing administrators regarding Arbitration Enforcement blocks: "No administrator may modify a sanction placed by another administrator without: (1) the explicit prior affirmative consent of the enforcing administrator; or (2) prior affirmative agreement for the modification at (a) AE or (b) AN or (c) ARCA (see "Important notes" [in the procedure]). Administrators modifying sanctions out of process may at the discretion of the committee be desysopped."

I do not respond to emails about blocks unless there is a privacy concern. You were blocked for violating the WP:ECR sanction that you were informed of here. You removed the notification, demonstrating that you had seen it. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 15:21, 31 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Would you like me to copy your appeal to WP:AN or WP:AE? I would also like to impress on you that "Yes, I did it" after removing the WP:CTOP notice without comment is unlikely to gain a clear and substantial consensus to overturn the sanction. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 15:41, 31 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Isn't the notice for me? Why would there be consequences for clearing my talk page? אקעגן (talk) 15:44, 31 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Per WP:OWNTALK, The removal of a warning is taken as evidence that the warning has been read by the user so your removal of the CTOP alert means you are responsible for following the rules outlined in the notification. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 16:02, 31 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If you would like me to move the appeal, you need to let me know if you want to appeal at WP:AN or WP:AE. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 17:19, 31 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
My contention is that it was not clear to me that the talk page itself that I couldn't edit it, since evidently, only part of the page couldn't be edited by me. (I don't know why they don't just make strict editing policies an aspect of the website infrastructure to avoid this altogether.)
In any case, is there any practical difference between these two options? אקעגן (talk) 18:57, 31 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
At AE admins make the decision, and at AN it's a consensus of uninvolved editors. AE is more structured and less often turns into a zoo.
You could also read the information that was provided about the WP:CTOP designation on the Arab/Israel conflict and WP:ARBECR and demonstrate that you understand and will abide by the sanctions in the topic area in an unblock request ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 20:51, 31 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Arbitration enforcement action appeal by אקעגן[edit]

Procedural notes: The rules governing arbitration enforcement appeals are found here. According to the procedures, a "clear and substantial consensus of uninvolved administrators" is required to overturn an arbitration enforcement action.

To help determine any such consensus, involved editors may make brief statements in separate sections but should not edit the section for discussion among uninvolved editors. Editors are normally considered involved if they are in a current dispute with the sanctioning or sanctioned editor, or have taken part in disputes (if any) related to the contested enforcement action. Administrators having taken administrative actions are not normally considered involved for this reason alone (see WP:UNINVOLVED).

Notification of that administrator
The appealing editor is asked to notify the administrator who made the enforcement action of this appeal, and then to replace this text with a diff of that notification. The appeal may not be processed otherwise. If a block is appealed, the editor moving the appeal to this board should make the notification.

Statement by אקעגן[edit]

I only made a change to a talk page, which is usually the way I can make my opinions known on a locked or protected page. The notice that it was only for extended confirmed users was on the top of the section, and not on the top of the page, so I missed it. I believe a week block is fairly severe under this circumstance.
