The ninth season of Chicago Med, an American medical drama television series with executive producer Dick Wolf, and producers Michael Brandt, Derek Haas, Peter Jankowski, Andrew Schneider and Diane Frolov, was ordered on April 10, 2023, by NBC.[1] The season premiered on January 17, 2024.[2] The season is scheduled to conclude on May 22, 2024 and to contain 13 episodes.[3]

Meanwhile, Sharon learns that her grandson is rushed to the ED after a fall. Dr. Ahmed and Maggie treat a patient who is on a cross country adventure. Also, Dr. Asher helps a person who she met in the ED with a medical condition.

Soon after, a criminal who has been declared brain dead comes into the ED who might be a match for the other patient. Dr. Charles asks Dr. Ripley to help with his girlfriends brother with a dislocated shoulder.

Dr. Asher and Dr. Archer are put in an uncomfortable position with a infant patient with a serious fracture who happens to be Dr. Abram’s child. Meanwhile, Dr. Marcel begins to lash out at his fellow residents following Dr. Ahmed’s suspension. Also, Sharon contemplates letting her family meet Dr. Washington.

Casting[edit]

On November 29, 2023, it was announced that Luke Mitchell would join the series in a recurring role with the potential to be expanded to a series regular.[15]

Filming[edit]

It was announced on March 8, 2024, that former cast member Brian Tee would return to direct the eleventh episode of the season.[16]
