English: The Call-Chronicle helicopter shown landing on ther Thanksgiving Day football game at the new Allentown School District Stadium on November 25, 1948. The game that season, the first for the new stadium was between Allentown High School and Windber School.
Helicopters were a very new technology to most people in 1948, and it landed just before the game began. Pilot Al Furlong put it down on the 50-yard line and had Call-Chronicale executive manger Donald P. Miller as a passenger who presented the game ball to Allentown High School head coach J Birney Crub. For the record, Allentown defeated Windber 26-7.
