English: Decree from the Provincial-Executive of Friesland, ordering to counter the sale and spread of the Patriot pamphlet Aan het Volk van Nederland ("To the People of the Netherlands").

Translation: "After having been informed with certainty that, for some time recently one has been trying to spread a certain writing in this Republic, named Aan het Volk van Nederland; and that this contains not just several evil and libellous imputations against the Lord Hereditary Stadtholder, and the previous Princes from the House of Orange and Nassau, but also the most rebellious attempts at subversion of the present form of Government, and it is of the highest necessity that selling and divulging such evil writings should be countered with all possible efforts: so it is that We have agreed to write to You Nobles this [letter], and to order [you] to investigate meticulously whether any Copies of the aforementioned writing are found in Your Nobles' District, have these retrieved de facto, and inform Us about it by sending over the Copies.

Wherever leaving Us, we commend You Nobles in the protection of Almighty God. Leeuwarden, 9 October 1781."
