DescriptionDino Borgioli, Italian tenor of the Melba-Williamson tour, (as Rodolfo in La boheme), 1924 - photographer Spencer Shier, Melbourne (5679118066).jpg
English: Note: Just as Sutherland promoted Pavarotti to lead tenor in her 1965 Australian opera tour, Melba helped the early career of Borgioli by making him her lead tenor. He sang Rodolfo in Sydney 10 years before he sang it at the Metropolitan Opera, New York. He never quite overcame the fame of his contemporary Tito Schipa, however.
