Summary

Description

Artist: Dave Bangs, 1984. Depicting the 1834 march to Westminster to petition for the pardon of the six Dorset farm labourers who were 'guilty' of, effectively, joining a trade union. The eventual success of this campaign was a celebrated event when I was taught history in the 1960s but it has probably now been expunged from the syllabus, or soon will be! Exterior wall in Edward Square, Copenhagen Street, London Borough of Islington.
