Description
English: Riding through the woods of Portland, Oregon's Washington Park on the narrow-gauge Washington Park & Zoo Railway. The train in this photo is being hauled by steam locomotive No. 1, the Oregon, which was built in 1959 and is a scale replica of the Virginia & Truckee Railroad 4-4-0 locomotive, Reno (built in 1872). The railroad opened in 1959-60 (as the Portland Zoo Railway) and has a track gauge of 30 inches (762 mm) and approximately 5/8-scale rolling stock. The train is headed towards Washington Park station (located near the city's Rose Gardens) in this view.
