PremierLeague.com as a reference[edit]

Most of the Premierleague.com references are invalid. Though the broken links can be fixed, any players appearing before the 2006/07 season will not have full clean sheet numbers listed, as this page explains. Therefore we would need to use another source to reference clean sheet stats. --Jameboy (talk) 15:43, 7 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The website has been updated recently, it now includes full statistics for clean sheets since the 1992-93 season, so it can be used as a source. Snowflake91 (talk) 15:56, 18 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Shared clean sheets[edit]

Are shared clean sheets included? For example how many of Cechs 199 clean sheets are solo and how many are shared? Mobile mundo (talk) 14:03, 27 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Dont know, the info is from official premierelague.com player profiles, but I guess that if the goalkeeper is subbed-off and his team dont concead a goal, he still gets a clean sheet Snowflake91 (talk) 14:15, 27 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

No, while the team would get a clean sheet, the goalkeeper has to play a full match to get it, it cannot be shared by goalkeepers. It was reported that Cech had finally overtaken David James' 169 record in 2015 but he himself and the premier league confirmed that in about 5 matches or so he had been subbed or sent off so he had to wait longer to actually take that record. The 199 as of 27/02/2018 is full matches played. Xenomorph1984 (talk) 14:59, 27 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I think it would be more appropriate to use a method Premier League uses in its Fantasy game statistics: if player playes at least 60 mins (67% of a full game) and doesn't concede, a clean sheet is awarded. For example, why goalkeeper shouldn't be awarded a clean sheet, when his team doesn't concede and unfortunately he is substituted in 90+1 min? Didn't he play 90 mins? In case of David de Gea, he played 74 mins (82% of a game) and didn't concede - why he should be penalised for his teammate mistake who allowed a goal? I understand if two goalkeepers play 45 mins each and none gets the clean sheet, but in this case I believe it should be awarded, becasue he played majority of the game. That's my point of view. Can we adjust the article to be more like List of footballers with 100 or more Premier League goals to have images in of the goalkeepers? Govvy (talk) 17:01, 8 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
