FMC Natatorium[edit]
The FMC Natatorium is an aquatic center located at Ty Warner Park in Westmont, Illinois.
History[edit]
The FMC Natatorium was conceptualized in 2015 as part of a larger initiative to promote aquatic sports and recreation in the region. Construction began in 2018, and the facility was officially opened to the public in 2020.[1]
Facilities[edit]
Swimming Pool[edit]
The main competition pool is a 9 lane, 50 m (160 ft) cross course pool. It is able to be converted into two 9 lane, 25 yd (23 m) pools thanks to a stainless steel movable bulkhead. The pool can circulate 1,000,000 US gal (3,800,000 L) of water in 6 hours. The pool is kept at 79 °F (26 °C). In addition, the main competition pool's sidelines are able to hold 1,200 spectators.[2]
Training Pool[edit]
To the West side of the competition pool, there is also a training pool. The training pool has 8 lanes, and is 25 yd (23 m) long. The pool is kept at 83 °F (28 °C), and is able to circulate 144,000 US gal (550,000 L) of water. With a depth ranging from 3 ft (0.91 m) to 6 ft (1.8 m), lanes 7 and 8 are the only ones that are able to allow for starts.[2]
Other Facilities[edit]
In addition to the main swimming pool, the FMC Natatorium offers a range of facilities and amenities, including a training pool, an area for concessions and dryland, an area for weightlifting, as well as four sets of locker rooms with 1,000 lockers. [3]
Events and Activities[edit]
The FMC Natatorium hosts a variety of events and activities throughout the year, catering to both competitive athletes and recreational swimmers. These include the TYR Pro Swim Series and the Speedo Winter Junior Nationals.
Management and Ownership[edit]
The FMC Natatorium is owned and managed by MaryAnn and Mark Kaufman. FMC Natatorium is sponsored by Speedo.
