A tag has been placed on your user page, User:Abrhouston/sandbox, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be advertising which only promotes or publicises someone or something. Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. May 2024[edit]

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because it has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  • Provide a new username.

To do this, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 17:39, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

Whoa- This wasn't the intention. Initially when I signed up, I thought there was a "mentor" or somesort that would review it before it was published? This was the reason I published it, to see if it was adequate or not. I had been working on my businesses page in a word doc for a few days to ensure it sounded as neutral as possible, along with citing references to ensure accuracy and legitimacy. I was attempting to mirror other automotive pages such as Group 1 Automotive, (where my structure is very close to theirs in subjects) and Sonic Automotive. Granted, I don't have such a story like Tesla, Inc., but I was trying to make a footprint for my business that was factual.

Decline reason:

As you have found, we don't want you doing that, at least right now. You have much to learn about Wikipedia, what we do, and how we do it, before you will be permitted to indirectly contribute about your company. Our articles are typically written by independent editors wholly unconnected with the topic. You have a conflict of interest and if you are an employee or owner of the company, you are a paid editor. It's not a good idea to use other random articles as a model for yours, as those could themselves be problematic and you would be unaware of this. There are many ways for inappropriate content to get by us and be on Wikipedia, this cannot justify adding more inappropriate content. If you want to use other articles as a model or example, use those that are classified as good articles. You won't be unblocked to, in the short term, edit about your company, so we will need to know what topics you might edit about instead. If you have no other interest here, this is the end of the road. 331dot (talk) 09:33, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Not commenting on the unblock request, but phrases like "dedication to quality and excellence", "a reputation for quality and reliability" and "significant investments in state-of-the-art diagnostic tools" aren't written from a neutral point of view. On top of that you would have to prove your company meets our notability guideline for companies. If you're only looking to create an article for the business I'd strongly urge you to read the notability guidelines before putting any further effort in and see if you can find enough suitable sources to prove the company meets them, otherwise it will all be wasted. Best, Pahunkat (talk) 18:13, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Understandable, and I appreciate the insight. Abrhouston (talk) 18:21, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Also please realize that creating an article about your own company is a conflict of interest. While it is not outright prohibited, we discourage this kind of editing, for reasons you have already encountered. Because of your proximity to and financial interest in the topic you're writing about, you'll find it difficult to write from the required neutral point of view, use information cited only to reliable and independent sources, and avoid using any personal knowledge or experience.
Also please realize that if your article is accepted, you will at no point have any right of ownership or control over its content. That means you can't insist that it remain at a version that you prefer. Any Wikipedia user can edit any article at any time, so the content of any article can change over time, sometimes substantially. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 19:14, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I understand. I appreciate all of the mod's insight. Perhaps I did a "ready, fire, aim!" a bit. Abrhouston (talk) 20:19, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Understandable. I put the cart before the horse here. You've slapped my wrist. I'd like to contribute with edits, now that I grasp the context of this. I can show you the example/article of the edit (it isn't credible) if you'd like. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_N54#cite_note-42 is a citation that goes to https://www.ultimatebimmerservice.com/n63-n74-n54-injector-update/#/. This is an independent auto repair shop that isn't the authority of this information. This is from BMW directly, via the NHTSA. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2019/MC-10170574-9999.pdf.
Again, another citation https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_N54#cite_note-41 is not from the actual source of BMW, https://www.brrperformance.com/bmw-fuel-injector-extd-warranty-reimbursement/, this would be the correct document to source, from BMW via NHTSA https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2016/MC-10150898-9999.pdf 50.194.170.209 (talk) 17:01, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not the blocking admin; you may either ask them directly or this user may make a new request. 331dot (talk) 18:38, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
