From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 2024 European Parliament election in Lithuania will be held on 9 June 2024 as part of the 2024 European Parliament election. This will be the first to take place after Brexit.[1]

Background[edit]

Lithuania will elect 11 Members of the European Parliament.[2]

Four of the eleven incumbents will not be seeking reelection: Aušra Maldeikienė (TS-LKD), Waldemar Tomaszewski (EAPL–CFA), and Viktor Uspaskich (Labour) decided to retire for personal reasons, although the later two are considering participation in the 2024 Lithuanian parliamentary election, along with Stasys Jakeliūnas (ind.Tooltip Independent politician), who was ostracized by the LVŽS due to his positions and statements regarding the Russian invasion of Ukraine.[3][4]

The remaining seven incumbents – Andrius Kubilius, Rasa Juknevičienė, Liudas Mažylis (all TS-LKD), Vilija Blinkevičiūtė, Juozas Olekas (both LSDP), Petras Auštrevičius (LRLS), and Bronis Ropė (LVŽS) – will seek another term.[3]
