The word Galyat is the plural of the Urdu word Gali, which means an alley between two mountains on both sides creating a valley, which is not the highest point in the mountain range. Many of the towns in this area of northern Pakistan have the word gali as part of their names. They are resort towns near Ayubia National Park, primarily in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
