This category weirds me out[edit]

Sometimes the bloat of info and ego-addition in the articles in this category is kinda creepy; we're all Canadians; I'm proud of my Norwegian ancestry, and my Irish and English and French; but I'm a Canadian. As were my naturalized grandparents, and those born here too Category:Canadian people of Canadian descent is blatantly missing; giving the large number of people who identify as Canadian in the census, this is a glaring omission. Those who says it's not an ethnicity are, to me, bigots; many of my multi-ethnic friends or even single-ethnicity friends would say they are Canadians only. And "of French descent" re the Quebecois and Acadians is kinda ludicrous, since they've been here 300 years and more....same with many Newfoundlanders. Category:Canadians of Newfoundland descent etc are more valid than someone whose remote ancestors are whatever. Mine, on the Norwegian side, were once German 1200 years ago; so I'm of German descent, no?? (Rogaland is where my family comes from, settled by the Rugians....). Ethnicity divides; I'm bothered by Wikipedia's penchant for classifying and separating people by ethnicity/bloodline. Disturbing. But so are the times....adn humans in general.Skookum1 (talk) 06:10, 5 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
