English language[edit]

I can see why English language shouldn't be added here - there is certainly room for etymology which is not about English. So let's leave it out. But it would be good if someone could move the articles which fit into the sub-category English words of foreign origin, since that does have the additional category English language. There might even be an argument for a new sub-category of English etymology. (It looks like the vast majority of current articles are in fact about English.) cleanup[edit]

this category should onlly contain articles that deal with etymology directly (such as false etymology, mondegreen, backronym etc.). Articles that treat specific etymologies belong in Category:Etymologies or subcategories thereof. dab (𒁳) 08:26, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
