I will remove people from this category for whom their former association is not a defining characteristic. See pending Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2007_July_23#People_by_former_religion. Andries 13:17, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Content[edit]

It seems that many persons in this category simply had a parent who was a JW rather than being an active member themself or it having any particular impact on their notability. Please do not include persons in this category who only have a weak affiliation with JWs and no notability attached to being members of the religion.--Jeffro77 (talk) 14:05, 11 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Suggested additions[edit]

  • Dave Mustaine

Add Dave Mustaine to the list. He was raised a JW(his mother and father former Lutherans converts to JW). He decided not to stay in the Truth and pursue a music carrer.

Please supply a reliable source indicating both former status as a JW and how this is relevant to Mustaine's encyclopedic notability. "Stay in the truth" is quite subjective.--Jeffro77 (talk) 03:01, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Ja Rule

Add Ja Rule to the list. He was raised a JW during his childhood. http://www.adherents.com/people/pr/Ja_Rule.html —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.15.215.162 (talk) 15:47, 17 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Jill Scott

Scott said in a 2004 interview that she grew up a JW, but she left when she was 12 http://www.adherents.com/people/ps/Jill_Scott.html

  • Naomi Campbell

Naomi's mother confessed in an interview that she brought up her daughter as a JW http://www.adherents.com/people/pc/Naomi_Campbell.html

Anonymous editor, the answer to each of these is the same as was given for the editor who suggested adding David Mustaine. Specifically, supply a source indicating that the individual's status as a JW relates to their encyclopedic notability. Please read Wikipedia:Overcategorization#Non-notable intersections by ethnicity, religion, or sexual orientation.--Jeffro77 (talk) 20:29, 17 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
