Observation I don't object, but not every head chef in a Michelin starred kitchen is leading the pack. In big kitchens, there can be an executive chef plus a head chef. And the Michelin stars are awarded to the chef that leads the kitchen (In fact it is the restaurant/chef combination that gets the star, but it is awarded to the restaurant) The Bannertalk 21:37, 29 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Sometimes it gets a bit more confusing than that, for instance both Gordon Ramsay (chef patron) and Clare Smyth (head chef) are credited with Michelin stars for Restaurant Gordon Ramsay. Other chef patrons that do the same include Joël Robuchon and Alain Ducasse who are chef patrons of multiple Michelin starred restaurants. Miyagawa (talk) 22:47, 29 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I understand the challenge with making this category name as precise and unambiguous as possible. I believe this can be adequately addressed by the shorter name and a description at the top of the category page laying out the above explanations provided by The Banner and Miyagawa. I think this is a very valuable category, so hopefully this solution will work for everyone. - MrX 00:31, 30 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps the best way to go is with the new name, but then in the category description it could add chef patrons as well - that way it makes the inclusion criteria quite precise (it would become chef patrons, head chefs and executive chefs). Miyagawa (talk) 11:06, 30 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
What do you have in mind? Split by country where they have earned there Michelin star(s)? Or by nationality? The Bannertalk 23:57, 14 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That I ask this because I know, from prior work on ENWP, that there are a lot of chefs who have earned their star(s) abroad. I even know of one chef who earned stars in two countries. It is not because I object to your proposal, but it can be a bit tricky. The Bannertalk 09:55, 16 September 2023 (UTC) @Another Believer:[reply]
