Inclusion in Middle Eastern and Asian culture section[edit]

This category was removed from the Middle Eastern culture section by another user, an edit that I've undone. My reason for this is that Jewish culture undoubtedly has its ancient origins in the Middle East, which are origins which have a huge influence on modern Jewish culture, something which I think most Jews or people who are well-versed in Judaism would agree on. Our major religious books also originate in the Middle East, and all three Abrahamic religions have many references to the Jews being present there.

Additionally, even if one was to discount the Middle Eastern influence on Ashkenazi Jewry (which I'd strongly disagree with) there are Jewish communities which have been living in the Middle East for thousands of years, so I think there is no way that one can claim that we should not be included as a Middle Eastern culture. The scientific-racist notion that "all Jews are inherently Middle Eastern" is an agitation promoted chiefly by National-Socialists who believe that Jews are of "racially" West-Asiatic origins and by right-wing Zionists for political reasons (many of whom hijack "indigenous" rhetoric and/or conflate Eretz Yisrael with Medinat Yisrael). It isn't even necessarily a mainstream claim, let alone a consensus claim. It's also true that "all three Abrahamic relgions" (there are more than 3, btw) and their "major religious books" also "originate" in the Middle East, but that hardly makes all Christians or all Muslims inherently "Middle Eastern". I'm sure you think of the putative Middle Easternness of Judaism to be an objective and neutral fact, but I would consider it a tendentious and ahistorical propaganda claim of recent vintage. To say that all Jews are Middle Easterners due to ancient origins and ancient cultural influences is a bit like saying that Americans are Brits, Romani people are Pakistanis, or Native Bolivians are Siberians.
