No rush, Malcolm. Why are you in such a hurry to put it back that you are (apparently) unwilling to discuss? The proper place to discuss category changes would be here. As the page was empty, I assume the category had just been slapped together without much forethought and thus there was no consensus in the matter. Please let's discuss here. Once we have agreed on a naming convention, I'd be happy to help implement it. Bob (QaBob) 15:26, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Initial reasoning[edit]

There were complaints that traditional Jewish Kabbalah articles and other "non-traditional" articles such as those on Hermetic Qabalah were indiscriminately mixed together into one category. A few articles were in a category with an inappropriate name, "Non-traditional Kabbalah". The reason that this naming conventions is is inappropriate is that other traditions of Kabbalah are also, well, traditions.

Therefore I created four equal subcategories, Category:Christian Kabbalah, Category:Jewish Kabbalah, Category:Hermetic Qabalah and Category:Practical Kabbalah so that articles specific to each tradition would not "step on the toes" of the other traditions. I simply don't see any other way to resolve the problem. If the name of the category "Jewish Kabbalah" is problematic, please propose a new name. Bob (QaBob) 15:46, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
