Sorting out this page[edit]

A lot of the entries here (plus many of the so far uncategorised articles linking to "University of Manchester") were only at the pre merger Victoria University of Manchester. This category should be limited to those at the post 2004 institution (plus anyone prominently involved in the merger) with pre 2004 people placed with the relevant subcategories for either UMIST or the VUM. Any help in moving articles is much appreciated.

I'm open to suggestions on how to handle academics (and potentially alumni) who have been there both pre and post merger. Anyone who was there pre merger, went away and came back post merger can easily go in both categories. For those who were continous is it preferable to:

a) Simply list them in the post merger categories? b) List them in both?

My inclination is to the latter - I think the individual institution categories should be as complete as possible - but I'm open to suggestions on this. Timrollpickering 14:11, 12 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
