Redirect where? DebateKid 15:35, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

1. Tamil Brahmins (wiki page) 2. Tamil Brahmins (catgory)

to Tamil brahmins (category)

The actual article is placed improperly at Tamil brahmins instead of Tamil Brahmins.... Just needed all the stuff going to the category.

Trying things create Duplicate Entries in the categories.

Kindly help resolving the problem

ALso want to move the category to

Moving/Redirecting[edit]

Wait, I think DebateKid is making some mistakes in his attempts to help. I take it back, DebateKid did it correctly.

  1. You should move from the category page, not the discussion page. Moving the main page automatically moves both the main page and the talk page. Your move missed the main page
  2. Redirects to categories should be made with a preceding colon, so the redirect link will look like this: #REDIRECT [[:Category:Tamil Brahmins]]. Using the colon places the link on a page without putting the page in the category. This is the root cause of all of BalanceRestored's "Duplicate Entries".

I will fix it and you can review what I have done to determine if it's what you want. Hoof Hearted Oops, failure on my part. I thought you could move a category like any other page, but it turns out you have to rename all the category links on the subpages. It's not that many, so I'll take care of that too. K. Kailasanatha Kurukkal[edit]

User @Sitush: has removed the category Tamil Brahmins from the article K. Kailasanatha Kurukkal. He says "consensus on Wikipedia is that they are treated as a caste when it comes to issues such as categorisation". I want a confirmation of his statement and, if what he says is the case, may I know why this category exists in Wikipedia.--UKSharma3 12:21, 4 May 2017 (UTC)
