Regarding Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2011_July_7#Category:World_record_holders: at Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2011_July_8#Category:Former_world_record_holders there was consensus to keep (albeit rename) a category including "world record holders" in its title, so this is needed to consolidate it.

Although I agree that this is far too cluttered a category to mass-drop everyone into, it would be less cluttered to have sub-categories like the above, and people who do not fit into subcategories could lurk here until enough of a common attribute are present to consolidate them.
