Demographics[edit]

Ethnicity[edit]

The Colombo East Polling Division has a Sinhalese majority (58.8%) and a significant Sri Lankan Tamil population (28.6%) . In comparison, the Colombo Electoral District (which contains the Colombo East Polling Division) has a Sinhalese majority (76.5%), a significant Moor population (10.7%) and a significant Sri Lankan Tamil population (10.1%)[1]

Religion[edit]

The Colombo East Polling Division has a Buddhist majority (54.1%), a significant Hindu population (23.3%) and a significant Muslim population (10.7%) . In comparison, the Colombo Electoral District (which contains the Colombo East Polling Division) has a Buddhist majority (70.2%) and a significant Muslim population (11.8%)[1]
