Randall McNeil (born 2 April 1970), better known as "DJ Randall", is a British Jungle and Drum and bass DJ and record producer.

With Fabio and Grooverider, Randall was one of the DJs who'd navigated through genres from acid house to Jungle via hardcore and jungle techno. He was one of the earliest DJs to play the jungle music sound.[1]

Biography[edit]

Randall was introduced to DJ scratching and mixing in the late 1980s. He was exposed to Acid House music at 1987's Notting Hill Carnival. This led to him buying records and listening to other DJ's. He soon developed his own style and saying that only took him only a week to learn how to mix. He created mix tapes regularly and it got him the opportunity to "play out".[2]

Randall got his Dj-ing start on pirate radio stations Rave FM, Centreforce and Rinse FM around 1989-90. He quickly became Breakbeat hardcore most prominent DJ's.[3] Setting up DeUndergound record label with fellow DJ's Cool Hand Flex and Mike De Underground and record shop in Forest Gate in East London.[3]

Randall's big DJ-ing break was appearing at the "Living Dream" rave at the Eastway Speed Stadium, in Leyton, East London at a 10,000 capacity event. He was a DJ on the bill but DJ Colin Faver didn't turn up, so Randall had to play a 2+12-hour set. [4]

Randall is better known as a DJ than a producer. However, in 1994, Randall produced Jungle's greatest percussion tracks "Sound Control" with Andy C from Ram Records.[1]
