The 2023 Oakland Roots SC season was the club's fifth season of existence and third in the USL Championship (USLC), the second tier of soccer in the United States. The Roots played their home matches at Pioneer Stadium in Hayward, California, about 15 miles south of Oakland.

The Roots finished the USLC regular season with a 10th place finish in the Western Conference. The club missed the playoffs after having a poor run of form to close the season, losing seven of their final 10 matches. Outside of USLC play, the Roots played in the 2023 U.S. Open Cup, where they were eliminated in the third round proper.
