92 For 22 is an American non-profit veterans service organization based in Allendale, Michigan.[1] Founded in March 2018, the main goals of the organization are suicide awareness, PTSD awareness, and financial assistance for U.S. veterans. The organization holds an annual 92 mile walk to raise awareness for the average of 22 U.S. veterans who commit suicide each day.

History[edit]

In 2017, a group of 11 U.S. veterans organized a 92 mile walk from Comstock Park, Michigan to Cadillac, Michigan on the White Pine Trail to raise awareness for veteran suicide and PTSD.[2] The walk generated donations of a total of $6,644, which was donated to Help For Our Disabled Troops, a 501c3 non-profit organization. During this walk, the idea grew to create a non-profit to assist veterans financially. The organization was founded in March 2018. That same year, a second 92 mile walk was held. This walk was from Marne, Michigan to Ludington, Michigan.[3] The second walk generated over $9,000 in donations.

Goals[edit]

The goals of this organization are to raise awareness for the fact that 22 U.S. veterans commit suicide every day, and provide financial assistence to veterans.[1]

Name[edit]

The name of the organization is based on the length of the original walk, 92 miles, and the average number of U.S. veterans who commit suicide each day, 22. 92 miles for 22 veterans.
