From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Abner Jonathan Lozano-Chavez.[1] (Born February 2, 1998) is an American Actor. He is known for his immersive physical versatility and transformation. He began his career in the theater doing plays while attending the University of California, Berkeley in Berkeley, California. He starred as the love interest in Apple TV+ Taken In Montana (2023)[2]

Early life, Education and Career[edit]

Lozano was born in Santa Clara, California but was raised in the south side of Stockton, CA with his two sisters and younger brother. He is the son of Native Mexican parents, Rodolfo Lozano, a pastor, and Elodia Chavez. In his upbringing, Abner struggled academically often getting suspended numerous times and was discouraged by his teachers on pursuing a higher education due to his diagnosis of dyslexia and was even told that the highest level of education he would achieve would be that of an associates degree in a community college.

He graduated from Bear Creek High School in 2016 with honors, having formed his non-profit organization Say No To Poverty a year prior in 2015 and attended the University of California, Berkeley graduating with two Bachelor degrees in Law and Theater Arts in 2020.[3][4] Abner also trained classically at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre from 2018-2022 under Rolf Saxon.[1]

When he was 20, he unsuccessfully auditioned for entrance to the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) while studying abroad in London, United Kingdom.

In October 2023, he was featured on the cover of Voyage LA Magazine.[5] When asked about longevity in his career and his interests, he replied:

"... All the conundrums of guiding yourself in a specific career path where you eventually want to end up is incredibly challenging. You can get lost in the process and hanging out with the wrong people doesn’t help. I’d rather be alone than to surround myself with people who have no ambition in life and distract themselves with pleasure. Because that’s what people with no purpose in life do. At first, when I made the move to Los Angeles, all of the fame and glam attracted me, but I soon realized that it didn’t. And I found myself wanting to be great at this acting thing. A lot of sacrifices come with that…even if it involves getting from one small tier to the next. You just gotta keep on pluggin’."[5]

Personal Life[edit]

Abner was in a relationship with All-American Gymnast Mariah Peterson from 2016-2017. He is also an education advocate having served as a board member for the National Center for Learning Disabilitiesfrom 2020-2022.[1]
