  • Comment: I think the awards section is a bit excessive, especially as the awards have like 50 categories that may be won. I suggest limiting it to major awards only.
News written by the company themselves, such as their magazine, [1], and [2] are not independent sources. This is also paid-for by the company.
Please find more sources like this one: [3], which talk about the company in-detail(not just mentions that it built stuff, which is normal for a construction company.)
Please note that 3 good sources is better than 100 poor ones, so please remove sources you don't need. Ca talk to me! 23:23, 23 November 2023 (UTC)

Alair Homes is a custom homes and renovations building franchise in the U.S. and Canada. Alair™ is the largest privately-held custom home building and renovation company in North America, expanding to 100 locations in 2023.[1]

Unlike conventional franchise models where potential franchisees make the initial approach, Alair Homes selectively invites building and remodeling companies that meet specific financial criteria while also sharing Alair’s core values.[2] The franchisees continue to independently own and operate their locations, while Alair provides franchisees access to operations support, proprietary software, back-end marketing, and a network of construction business owners to standardize systems and processes.[3]

In addition to building custom homes and large-scale renovations, Alair publishes a titular magazine chronicling residential construction trends and profiling builders, architects, designers, and other industry experts. Alair also hosts educational events and summits, such as the PM Summit, which is dedicated to developing leadership skills and resources for project managers.[4]

History[edit]

The first office of Alair Homes opened in 2007, serving the communities around Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada.[5] Founded by Blair McDaniel, Alair developed custom homes, renovations, and large-scale remodeling projects.[6]

Alair transitioned to a franchise model in 2012 with the launch of Alair Edmonton.[7] In less than three years, Alair expanded to more than 35 locations, including franchise locations in the U.S.[8] As of 2023, Alair has more than 100 locations in the U.S. and Canada.

Since its inception, Alair has earned a variety of local and national awards in the U.S. and Canada.[9][10][11][12]

Alair Cares[edit]

In 2017, Alair launched a corporate social responsibility called Alair Cares.[13] Alair Cares runs initiatives giving back to communities in all its locations across the U.S. and Canada, supporting causes such as pediatric hospital development, environmental conservation, and low-income housing.[14][15][16] Since its inception, Alair Cares has donated more than $2 million to communities across North America.[17]

As an initiative of Alair Cares, Alair was instrumental in building A Better Tent City in Waterloo, Ontario in 2022.[18] A Better Tent City is a neighborhood of tiny homes, offering temporary shelter and privacy for unhoused individuals. Alair managed project coordination and brought water, sewer, and electrical power to the community.[19]

In Canada, Alair partnered with television personality Cheryl Hickey to raise awareness for the SickKids Hospital as the Toronto-based pediatric hospital raises funds to build new facilities.[20] Through Alair Cares initiatives across Canada, Alair pledged to raise $100,000 CAD over five years to help build the new hospital facilities.[21][22]
