Alwyn Barr is a history professor at Texas Tech University.[1] In 2018 he was interviewed about his book on African Americans in Texas.[2]

He served as president of the Texas State Historical Association in 1992 and 1993.[3]

Barry A. Crouch reviewed his book Black Texans.[4] Redell R. Hearn reviewed the book's second edition. James A. Tinsley described his book Reconstruction to Reform as a job well done.[5] ForTexans in Revolt it is advertised that "Alwyn Barr completely maps the ebbs and flows of the Bexar campaign."[6] His book The African Texans was published as part of a five volume set titled Texans All.[7]
