Baku (also spelt Beku) is a small historic coastal town in Nzemaland, located along the beautiful beaches of Nzema, Baku is just about a six minute drive from one other coastal small town Eikwe and about a 10 minute drive from Atuabo. Baku is a part of the Ellembelle District of Ghana^[1].

Baku is one of many well planned towns whose inhabitants are from of multiple Ghanaian ethnicities (Nzema, Fante and Anlo) living harmoniously together. This is an expected mix of ethnicities since all three are known to be great fish farmers.

The beautiful sandy beaches with its tall coconut trees has turned the small town Baku into a tourist/vacation destination.

Baku is also known for the popular Nzema native housing architecture locally called "manra"^[2] which is essentially homes built with raffia and thatch. This local architecture has inspired many beach resorts along the small coastal towns of Nzema, these resorts are built to blend the local Nzema raffia architecture with contemporary styles.

The main source of income for the inhabitants is through fish farming and sales from dry coconut.
