Charlie Sand is an installation artist from Sacramento, California who created the technique of weaving together rope and rope-like material to create intricate webbed platforms, spirals, ladders, and other shapes between the branches of trees, meant for climbing and recreation.

Charlie began experimenting making these alternative treehouses in 2010 after seeing Avatar, which had rendered scenes of communities living amongst the tree canopies in uniquely shaped structures.

Charlie is active on Instagram and Tic Tok, and has had one of his videos featured on Ridiculousness in 2023.

Since having an online presence in 2020 and going viral, more people have been taking on the medium and craft, creating businesses and lifestyles out of it.
