The Climax Jazz Band were founded in 1971[1] in Toronto, Ontario. Their Canadian brand of British style "Traditional Jazz[1]" includes marches, ragtime, blues, spirituals and popular songs performed with dedication and humour. In their 50+ year career, "Canada’s Jazz Ambassadors",[2] the Climax Jazz Band traveled over a million miles to play at festivals all over North America, Europe, Britain and Japan.[3] Additionally, they played storied residencies at Toronto's Brunswick House, and Chick N' Deli.
Over the years the band has included founder, bassist, and vocalist "Captain" Chris Daniels, as well as "Bouncing" Bob Erwig cornet, Len Gosling trombone, "Tricky" Mick Lewis clarinet, Jack Vincken banjo, Jamie Aug drums, and others.[4]
Their Discography spans over 20 albums,[4] and included guest artists Kenny Davern, Spiegle Wilcox, Carol Leigh,[5] and Ruby Wilson.
