Heather Nigro (born in 1980) is an American photographer. Nigro is best known for her portraits of musicians and fashion photography, working under the name Moxxii.[1]. Her work has appeared on the covers and pages of Harper's Bazaar, Spin[2], Glamour, Wonderland, and Billboard[3]

Early Life and Education[edit]

Nigro was born in Milford, Connecticut. At age 15, she took an interest in film photography in high school in Southington, Connecticut and was given an Olympus OM-10 camera by her Aunt. She would take her camera to concerts in New York City to photograph musicians at The Beacon Theatre and Wetlands Preserve in the 1990s. Upon graduation, Nigro moved to Denver, Colorado, to pursue a career in technology.[4]

Photography Career[edit]

Following the death of her younger brother, Nigro returned to photography as a form of therapy to cope with the traumatic event in 2003. She returned to her foundation in concert photography[5], followed by portraiture.

In 2022 Nigro opened up a photography studio in Bonita Springs that flooded later that year during Hurricane Ian.

Following the storm, Nigro left for New York City to explore a new photographic direction. Since 2023, she has been working on a series of fashion-focused fine art photos based on narratives from her personal life with models portraying her. Often Nigro will also produce and wardrobe style in addition to creative direction.[6]
