Hojicha Co. is a Japanese tea company launched in 2018[1][2][3][4] specializing in Japanese roasted green tea (hojicha) produced in Kyoto, Japan. Headquartered in Toronto, Canada[5] the company distributes its products in the United States, Canada, and Europe.

The company was founded by Danielle Geva and Francois Mathieu[6][7], and launched in the fall of 2018. Shortly after the brand launched, Food Navigator named Hojicha Co. one of the most popular food startup stories of 2018.[8][9]

In April 2019, the company announced[10] its plans to supply tea shops and cafes with “Hojicha Powder” to further accelerate the hojicha trend outside of Japan.[11][12]

Hojicha Co. was awarded "Best Tea 2019" at the Toronto Coffee & Tea Expo in May 2019, and its "Hojicha Gold Roast" tea won the third position in green tea in blind tasting at the 2020 Toronto Tea Festival.
