Lang Ha St is a significant transportation axis of Hanoi that passes through both Dong Da and Ba Dinh districts. It runs from the intersection of Giang Vo - La Thanh Street to the intersection of Huynh Thuc Khang - Thai Ha streets, ending at Lang Road. The street is 21m wide and 1654m long.

History

Lang Ha Road has a rich history that dates back to the Le and Nguyen dynasties. It passes through the old low-lying land of Thanh Cong village and Lang Ha village, both located outside the La Thanh dyke. Thanh Cong village was originally known as Cong Bo ward during the Le dynasty and changed to Nhuoc Cong ward under the Nguyen dynasty. Lang Ha village is one of three villages, namely Thuong (Upper), Trung (Middle), and Ha (Lower), forming Yen Lang camp, Ha canton, Vinh Thuan district.

Until the end of the 20th century, the primary occupation of this area was agriculture, mainly growing vegetables and fruits. It was well-known for its specialties such as spring onions and Lang basil, which added to the typical pho flavour of Hanoi.

After the August Revolution of 1945, Lang Ha Street was renamed Lang Ha Road. During the resistance war against the French, Lang Ha Road played a crucial role in Hanoi city. Many fierce battles took place here between our army and people and the French invaders. During the French colonial period, Lang Ha Street was a symbol of power and prestige for the colonial government. It housed many important buildings such as the Hanoi Court, the Department of Public Works, and the Department of Commerce.
