The Litchfield Historical Societty, based in Litchfield, Connecticut, is a historical society with long history of involvement in historic preservation.

The organization operates the Litchfield History Museum, at 7 South Street in Litchfield. [1] It showcases topics in local history in its exhibits on the first floor of the Noyes Memorial Building, [ Is that the building at 7 South St.? ] which hosts the Helga J. Ingraham Memorial Library on its lower level.[1]

It also operates the historic Tapping Reeve House and Litchfield Law School at 82 South Street.[2]

It produced and distributes a walking tour,[2] a free downloadable version of which is available here.

History in Litchfield[edit]

Litchfield is one of many communities in the United States which is entirely or largely designated as a historic district by listing on the National Register of Historic Places. Its core area is one of very few historic districts that are further designated as a National Historic Landmark District (notable others include the Savannah Historic District, [...] ) .
