Maurice Pledger is a childrens book author and illustrator. His books include touch-and-feel and "sounds of the wild" pop-up books with animal sounds.

He illustrated the Warwick "First Look At Nature" book series, written by Angela Sheehan.[1] He illustrated books in the "Animal Life Stories" children's book series, written by Angela Royston, including Duck (1988), Hedgehog (1989), Mouse (1989) and Squirrel (1989).[2]

He won the Francis Williams Illustration Award in 1992 for the Best Descriptive Illustration from the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

He re-adapted some of his children's books to use magnetic figures.[3]
